Golfing in Northern Michigan

If you're brave enough to go golfing in Northern Michigan, Brandon Tucker highlights the True North Golf Club in Harbor Spring, MI in a recent post.

We created a GoWaza map with the golf course, local hotels, restaurants and coffee shops.

But be careful. If you slice your ball there, you may have to retrieve it from Canada.

Halloween City Countdown -- Philadelphia

Are you heading down to our nation's first capital this Halloween? While not a blatantly spooky city like Salem, MA there are plenty of attractions that will let you make the most of Halloween 2009 in Philadelphia. Like our previous city-themed installments we have created a trip folder with Halloween-related haunts inside it. Be sure to follow through to the folder to see everything plotted on a map that you can modify to suit your own trip.

After opening the folder you'll find the attractions listed. You can personalize the folder for yourself by adding the hotel where you are staying so you can find your way from any of the attractions to one another.

The premiere Halloween event in Philadelphia is Terror Behind the Walls at the Eastern State Penitentiary. You have not experienced Halloween in Philadelphia until you have gone to this. Be sure to get tickets online if you are planning to go on a weekend. You can enter at 7pm nightly up until 11pm or 12am depending on the night. It will take you about 1/2 hour inside, and you will be scared! There are many good restaurants within a block of this location so feel free to come early (or stay late) at one of those venues.

For a younger audience Philadelphia has a plethora of events put on by the city of Philadelphia. Franklin Square has a set of kid friendly events like Spooky Mini Golf each weekend at dusk or a daylight Trick-or-Treat Trail on October 31st from 12-3pm.

Finally for the walking inclined, check out Ghost Tours of Philadelphia. It's a great way to see some of the older areas of the city and be told spooky stories about them at the same time. If you want to try and give yourself a tour, I've marked a few cemeteries on the map that you can swing by if you are in the area.** One of them is the same one Nicholas Cage runs through in National Treasure! Supplement your own walk with an audio tour ($14.99).

For additional ideas for your Halloween trip, be sure to check out the UWishUNu blog from the city of Philadelphia Tourism Commission. Any items and attractions you are interested in can easily be added to your Gowaza trip folder.

**Gowaza is not encouraging trespassing or otherwise inconsiderate behavior at any cemetery or graveyard regardless of historic or celebrity status.

Halloween City Countdown -- Miami

Will you be in Miami for Halloween? Need some help organizing and planning your trip? Gowaza was built with just that task in mind. We've made a Halloween trip folder for Miami and linked to it below to help you navigate the area.

Once you open the folder I would suggest searching for hotels, finding your hotel, or putting in whose house you are staying at. Doing one of those three things will allow you to use Gowaza's direction features to go from where you are staying to one of the included events.

We have decided to go trekaroo-style for this post and provide a wealth of kid-friendly events like the Not So Scary Halloween event at The Miami Children's Museum and Halloween on the Mile along the Miracle Mile in Coral Gables. (There are more events than that in the trip folder.)

However, there are adult readers here as well and they should definitely head over to events like the MimoWEEN Street Festival or even the House of Jigsaw Halloween Weekend for some real scares.

Like our Los Angeles Halloween ideas, there are some costume shops to get you started when you arrive. Both ABC Costume Shop and Casa de los Trucos Costumes are excellent spots to find witch hats, wrestling spandex, or whatever else you may need.

Don't forget that within a Gowaza trip folder like the one above you are easily able to organize the places and events you want to go which will help you plan that perfect vacation.

Thank you to About.com's Dawn & Renee for their kids event ideas and the Miami New Times for its excellent directory of Halloween events.

Halloween City Countdown -- Los Angeles

Are you planning a trip to Los Angeles, CA this Halloween? Need some last minute planning tips and events? Gowaza is here to help you with a premade trip folder that will help you in your fright-night adventures!

Inside the folder you will find costume stores to get you equipped like Hollywood Toys & Costumes, Bill Hargate Costumes & Halloween BOOTique.

Once you have your costume, you can grab a quick bite at a Halloween-themed restaurant or lounge like La Parilla or Cinespace.

Make sure you get around to the great Halloween-themed events in Hollywood like the Hollywood Hell House (Haunted House), Day of the Dead at Hollywood Cemetery (Nov 1), and the Hollywood Halloween Street Fair. In downtown LA, check out Monster Massive -- the largest Halloween-themed event in North America.

Last, but certainly not least, all of the amusement parks in the area have Hollywood-themed nights. We have included Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, and Six Flags in the folder. For more information about theme park times, promotions, and events check out Kayte's great post at About.com.

But most of all, be safe and have fun! Tell us if we missed anything and even make your own trip folder to put in the comments section.

Jetblue offers seats for $31 on 10/31

Jetblue is offering all remaining seats on 10/31 for $31. Here's the info on their site and the press release.

It's a great strategy for filling seats they probably wouldn't otherwise sell.

If you decide to take a flight, wear a costume and try to trick-or-treat on the plane. If you're not arrested by the TSA, send the pictures to costumes at gowaza dot com and I'll post them on the blog.

Welcome to the GoWaza Travel Blog

We've just launched the GoWaza Travel Blog to talk about all things travel. GoWaza (www.gowaza.com) is the Internet's first truly integrated travel site. You can finally see all of your travel items on one dashboard and map. You no longer have to open multiple browsers and cut/paste addresses into an online map to figure out where to stay.

Plus, you can add all your travel items to a Trip Folder and share your trip with your friends.

Our goal with this blog is to make announcement about GoWaza and also talk about things we like in travel. If you have ideas, feel free to send them to us.
